Rome, 14th November 2016 – Finsis S.p.A. has today finalized the repurchase of Simest S.p.A.’s 24.1% stake of shares in IDS Ingegneria Dei Sistemi S.p.A.
Banca IMI and Orrick have acted as Finsis’ financial and legal advisors respectively during the entire buying process.
The agreement reached between Finsis and Simest, which sees the immediate 14.1% repurchase of IDS capital and the transfer of the remaining 10% during 2018, allows the release of resources that Simest may reinvest in the process of further IDS internationalization.
IDS Ingegneria Dei Sistemi is an independent engineering company providing research, innovation and products in the unmanned, electromagnetic and air navigation sectors, for civil and defense applications. In addition, it specializes in providing consulting services for high-tech engineering projects, and in developing integrated software solutions and measurement systems. IDS, established in 1980 in Pisa where it still has its headquarters, has an international presence with subsidiaries in Australia, United Kingdom, Canada, Brazil and South Korea. Nowadays, IDS is an Italian company at the forefront of the sectors where it works, and it is ready to proceed with further potential development in both the Far East and North America.
Simest joined as a minority holder of IDS capital during 2013 to support the international expansion of the company and some very innovative projects, relative for example to both UAS (unmanned aerial systems) and protection systems for convoys in critical areas.
The stock repurchase agreement has been possible thanks also to the support from the Banca IMI M&A team and from the Orrick law firm, which have been able to align the new demands of IDS with those of Simest.

25th October 2016, Rome Italy. The SESAR demonstration project, PBN Rotorcraft under Demonstation (PROuD), which involved IDS as project coordinator, presented the results of 2 years' work at a recent workshop in Rome.
25th October 2016, Pisa Italy. OPTRON, the South African distributor of IDS GeoRadar, dedicated a workshop to training on the Opera Duo at Geomatics Indaba. It was the most active training workshop of the event.
29th September 2016, Pisa Italy. IDS GeoRadar is pleased to announce that it has now established a local office in South Africa, where an experienced team of professionals is entirely dedicated to support and expand the IBIS Radar monitoring business in the Africa region.
1st September 2016, Pisa Italy. IDS GeoRadar have today launched the Stream C, the newest member of its range of ground penetrating radar systems. Stream C is the compact array solution for real-time 3D mapping of underground utilities and features. Thanks to the increased level of accuracy provided by a massive antenna array, Stream C is able to detect pipes and cables automatically.
5th August 2016, Rome Italy. IDS’s IA-3 Colibrì multirotor RPAS (Remotely Piloted Aerial System) has received the first RPAS Project Certificate to be issued by ENAC, the Italian civil aviation authority.
15th July 2016, Pisa Italy. In addition to the solar panels which are already offered as an alternativeto the diesel generator, and in order to increase the use of clean energy, the IBIS-Rover is now available with an optional Green Kit, which includes a 500 W wind turbine and new improved solar panels. The Green Kit is fully integrated in the IBIS-Rover and can easily be installed as an upgrade to an already operational system.
